Now that many things are changing in my life, I reflected on my youth. I have been very lucky in my life as a 62 year old man. My upbringing was awesome. My parents instilled in me many things that helped me grow, such as a strong work ethic, being generous, being helpful, and taking care of your family.

Hollywood Beach, Florida, aka Johnson Beach, was and still is my place to go. My family had a home in Hallandale, Florida since I was born in 1959. We vacationed there for three weeks a year every year from the time I started school. My mother entertained with my teachers at Mt. Hope, St. Gerard and LCC schools. They would concoct three weeks of courses for me to do in Florida. Of course, I didn’t finish all the work until the day before we got back. But it was great to hang out with my other cousins who were also coming to this area of Florida.

We played ball at the rec center, went to the beach, attended Yankees spring training games, and did lots of memory-for-life activities. I can honestly say that I have been blessed.

As I begin 26 years in radio doing sports radio, I feel truly accomplished. I was inducted into the Grand Lansing Hall of Fame last summer spent time working in my family business DeMarco’s for years graduated from LCC then college of the CMU. I worked and it paid off.

Above all, I miss my parents, family and friends who have passed away over the years. They will always be with me. I also had the chance to marry a woman who is simply brilliant! I will never forget the path to growing up.
