Miss pageants, concerts, demolition derby return to Gridley for Butte County Fair – Oroville Mercury-Register

GRIDLEY – The annual Butte County Fair will open Thursday through Sunday at 251 E Hazel St. in Gridley and return to the fairgrounds with shows, a carnival and a food fair.

“We strive to preserve and enrich the tradition of the Butte County Fair for future generations,” Butte County Fair CEO Stephen Kenny said in a press release. “We are delighted with the new range of entertainment throughout the fair. All traditions of the fair will continue this year, including the Midway of Fun Carnival, competitive cattle and stills, and demolition derby.

Thursday

Doors will open on the first day of the Butte County Fair at 4 p.m. At 6 p.m., the Miss Butte County Beauty Pageant kicks off on the Courtyard Stage while Industrial Drive performs at Jake’s Country Sports Bar. Hunter Jordan will wrap up the entertainment program at 9:30 p.m. with a performance on the Courtyard Stage.

Miss Butte County

The Miss Butte County Scholarship Competition consists of four categories: the Future Missette title, which includes competitors from kindergarten and grades 1-2, the Missette title, which includes competitors from grades 3 -6, the Miss Teen title, which includes contestants in grades 7 through 10, and the Miss title, which includes contestants in grades 11 through 12 and women up to age 20. On Thursday, three Missette contestants, four Miss Teen contestants and three Miss Butte County contestants will compete.

Friday

Valerie Hopkins will perform on the Whitaker Stage at 1 p.m. Friday. Public doors will open at 3 p.m. in time for the first animal show at 3:30 p.m. The beef show for the ultimate big animal display will begin at 6 p.m. h. Valerie Hopkins will close the entertainment schedule at 9:15 p.m.

Saturday

The Junior Cattle Auction will begin at 10 a.m. at McClanahan Pavilion on Saturday. After the doors open to the public at noon, Reece Thompson will perform on the Corner Stage at 1 p.m. Strung Nuggets will take to the Courtyard Stage at 5 p.m. 7:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively at the Espace Tribune. The Outlaw Mariachi will wrap up the entertainment schedule on Saturday with a performance on the Courtyard Stage at 10 p.m.

Sunday

The final day of the Butte County Fair will see the gates open at noon. At 3 p.m., California Dreaming will take place on the Courtyard stage. At 6:30 p.m., Stringtown Road will perform at Jake’s Country Sports Bar and the entertainment program will conclude at La Familia Day Jaripeo Baile’s Grandstand Arena at 7:00 p.m.
