Maruti Suzuki drives in new WagonR at Rs 5.39 lakh

The country’s largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), on Friday launched the updated version of its WagonR sedan at a price of between Rs 5.39 lakh and Rs 7.10 lakh (ex-showroom). The new WagonR is powered by the advanced 1-litre and 1.2-litre K-Series engines combined with idle start-stop technology.

The 1-liter versions are priced between Rs 5.39 lakh and Rs 6.81 lakh, while the 1.2-liter variants are tagged between Rs 5.99 lakh and Rs 7.10 lakh.

Available in both petrol and S-CNG fuel, the 1-litre engine offers fuel efficiency of 25.19 km per liter of petrol, approximately 16% better than the previous model and 34.05 km per kg in S-CNG, approximately five percent superior to the outgoing S-CNG model.

The 1.2-litre petrol offers 24.43 km per litre, around 19% more than the outgoing model.

The new Wagon R is available with manual and automatic shift (AGS) transmission options.

The model features changes in exterior design, interiors and now also comes with new era safety and convenience features.

“Maruti Suzuki WagonR’s continued success in the market is testament to its undisputed reign as one of India’s most iconic hatchbacks.

“Since its launch in 1999, WagonR has constantly evolved and taken the pulse of changing customer preferences with industry-leading features, design, and performance,” said Shashank Srivastava, senior executive director (marketing and sales) at MSI in a communicated.

Glad to share that WagonR has the highest percentage of repeat purchases in the Maruti Suzuki portfolio, he added.

“More than one in four WagonR customers replace it with a new WagonR. Over the years, Wagon R has become the choice of over 2.7 million families.

“The new WagonR is designed to carry forward that legacy with its rugged and energetic performance, two-tone exterior, upgraded interiors, more than 12 safety features, convenience features and superior fuel efficiency,” noted Srivastava.

The company is confident that the new WagonR will exceed consumer expectations and will continue to be the preferred choice for many other Indian families, he added.

MSI has added various new features to the model such as Hill Hold Assist in AGS variants, 7″ SmartPlay Studio with smartphone navigation.

Safety features include dual airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), front seat belt reminder, high-speed alert system and rear parking sensors are standard on all variants, he added.
