Hoonigan YouTube Channel recently released the second season of their popular series, Hoonicorn vs. the world 2 on the YouTube channel. It features a driver in the form of Lia, Ken Block’s 14-year-old daughter, who drives a series of drag races against a wide and interesting array of unique cars. All of this takes place on the airstrip of Santa Margarita Ranch Air.

The first episode starred her father’s Lia and Hoonicorn Ford The Mustang faces US National NHRA Champion Alex Laughlin in his 4000-hp Chevrolet Corvette C6. This episode was followed by another showing the Hoonicorn against a Tesla Model S Plaid, which is one of the fastest accelerating cars on the market today.

The final episode sees Lia and her father’s car take on a heavily modified Oldsmobile Cutlass.

Heavily modified cutlass takes it to the next level

The Hoonicorn is a 1965 Ford Mustang, weighing just under 3,000 pounds. Under the hood is a twin-turbo V8 developing 1,400 horsepower. This power is transmitted to all four wheels by a six-speed Sade V gearbox with paddle shifters.

The Hoonicorn competitor in this episode is the coupe version of a 1982 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.

Under the modified carbon fiber hood hides a 427 cubic inch V8 with a four-speed transmission from a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The original rear-wheel-drive configuration has been replaced with an all-wheel-drive configuration that also comes from of a Chevrolet.

The initial run is a 1,000 foot sprint that begins from a dig. The all-wheel-drive Cutlass hooks up right away and gets the first jump, but the lighter, more powerful Mustang uses its power-to-weight ratio to crawl and gradually pull away from its opponent.

For the second round, the two cars engage in a roll race at the 500-foot mark. The Cutlass gets the first jump as Lia abruptly stops the Hoonicorn. It turns out that she braked out of caution after hearing a strange noise coming from the engine.
