By Rosie Manins (December 17, 2021, 1:49 p.m. EST) – Georgia’s top judges this year awarded Alston & Bird LLP most of a seven-figure malpractice judgment, although it was not found only partially responsible for the problem and, in another case, removed four decades of precedent to restore an $ 18 million verdict for a seriously injured tractor driver.
The Georgia Supreme Court also upheld the nearly 30-year-old state jurisdiction rule that businesses registered in Georgia can be sued there, sending a message to the business community that the state courts of Georgia Peach have a wide reach.
